Viva Aerobus | Preparing for global growth through language training

Overview

Viva Aerobus, Mexico’s fastest-growing airline, partnered with EF Corporate Learning to equip its team with the language skills needed for international expansion and stronger service delivery. With the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, hosted in part by Mexico, and a growing number of international passengers, Viva saw English proficiency as a critical enabler of communication, safety, and customer experience. Aligning language learning with service, opportunity, and growth

As one of Mexico’s fastest-growing airlines, with ambitious plans to double in size over the next five years, English proficiency is a key part of Viva’s growth strategy.

Viva recognized that upcoming events like the FIFA World Cup would bring a wave of international travelers, particularly from the United States. This created an urgent need to strengthen English communication across its workforce, especially among those directly interacting with passengers. The company also saw language training as a long-term investment in its people and their ability to grow within the organization.

“English is the language of aviation and it opens doors. It has given me access to major opportunities, and we want our people at Viva to have that same chance. It improves communication, safety, and service in an airline with a global vision like ours.”

– People Operations Director, Viva Aerobus

The Challenge

Reaching a dispersed workforce with practical training

Viva needed to reach a large and diverse group of employees quickly, across various locations and work schedules. Since many participants were cabin crew, flexibility was essential, as was the ability to support learners at different levels of proficiency.

At the same time, Viva wanted a partner who could deliver not only a quality learning experience but one that was practical, scalable, and tailored to the real-world demands of aviation. EF Corporate Learning provided that support, combining digital learning tools with a tailor-made program to meet Viva’s ambitions.

"We were looking for a strategic partner, and EF was the one to help us leverage this growth strategy."

Our Solution

Flexible, scalable learning tailored to aviation

EF’s digital classroom enabled Viva to launch a flexible English training program. This gave employees access to self-paced lessons, real-life scenario practice, and speaking tools designed specifically for aviation professionals.

The use of EF’s AI-driven speaking technology offered employees unlimited access to immersive English practice in realistic scenarios. These AI conversations are designed to simulate one-on-one conversations and provide instant, personalized feedback, helping learners build confidence through repetition and immediate correction.

This approach has allowed Viva to reach more than 1,500 employees so far, with learners participating from across the country. The majority are part of the cabin crew, the team most visible to international passengers and most directly responsible for delivering excellent service.

“My confidence has improved in real cabin crew situations.”

Our impact

Confident communication, stronger service, and career growth

Learners and leaders alike have reported meaningful improvements in communication and confidence. Cabin crew members are now better prepared to assist international travelers, and feedback from passengers and employees has been overwhelmingly positive.

Participants say they feel more comfortable using English in real work situations and more prepared to face new challenges. For the company, this translates into better customer experience, stronger brand trust, and a workforce ready to support international expansion.

“They can communicate with the passengers, they can provide a better service, and they are providing very good feedback about the program.”
